GREENGROCER

“How might the high street of the future regenerate and positively affect local communities and economies?"

In this project, I was proposed to design a speculative and conceptual proposal for a vacant plot at Kelham Island, Sheffield. I had to re-imagine the site as an active high street and community hub that reinvents the traditional “high street providing much needed places and spaces for the residents of the area to enjoy.”

I had to utilise a series of disused shipping containers and then transforming them into an innovative but functional space for a greengrocer.

I had to explore and highlight Kelham Islands rich history through the project's narrative and highlight this subtly through interventions throughout the design-making process. I had to develop my project to go beyond a simple retail area and use the design as a tool for further regeneration of the area, driving economic growth and generating a sense of community for the residence.
